Introduced in the spring of 1926, the Hamilton “Cushion Form Engraved” first appeared with the Grade 986A movement before later transitioning to the newly released Grade 987. This particular example is an especially interesting late-production piece, believed to be from a small 1946 run of approximately 18 watches likely assembled from remaining early cases. Several details point to this uncommon production batch, including the distinctive engraving style and the specially milled Grade 987A movement fitted to the watch. The case itself presents beautifully, showing only light wear overall, while the engraved caseback remains exceptionally sharp and well executed. Measuring approximately 27mm wide by 35mm long, the watch has a strong wrist presence for an early Hamilton wristwatch. Its original AGN dial is in superb condition, complemented by a newly installed glass crystal. Powering the watch is its correct 17-jewel Hamilton Grade 987A hand-wound movement, freshly serviced and running strongly.
